I am trying to install the All In One Package on a Windows 7 64 box, and get an immediate error saying “non 7-zip archive”. I have tried to run it as both administrator and in compatibility mode with no luck. Others on the forum have mentioned the same thing, and the closest any of the replies got to solving the issue mentioned downloading the 64bit Windows version of Eclipse from Eclipse.org, then using Pulse to put MyEclipse over that. But there is no 64 bit Windows version at Eclipse.org: they explicitly say so!

What do I need to do to get this to work? They just handed me this brand new box, and it’s a brick!

I’m surprised that there’s no reply yet. Windows 7 has been released to universities… this is something that has to be addressed folks. I am dead in the water and I’m not alone. I have used MyEclipse for years and I don’t want to stop now!

Hm, I have no problem installing or running MyEclipse and Pulse on W7 x64 RTM over here. (I have UAC turned off though)

Maybe you could disable your AV during installation, it is known that 7-zip selfextractors are easily influenced by AV actions. I’m running AVG-free 8.5 that officially supports W7, and I do not have to turn it off for good results, but other AV’s should probably support W7 as well.

THanks…. actually I have no anti virus installed yet! What is UAC?

Ahh – User Access Control. Turned it off, and still the same error. When I had Windows 7 “Troubleshoot Compatibility Issues” I was told the MyEclipse 7.5 was an incompatible application.

    Help!

You have tried re-downloading the all-in-one installer from the site? Might actually be a faulty download, and the selfextractor is ‘just’ (rightfully) complaining about a bad checksum calculation.

Well that did it! I had already downloaded twice before, with the same results. I downloaded again this morning and it installed without a hitch! Close this, and sorry for the interruption.

I’m glad we could solve this without the help of the official support-* guys 🙂
