When I go to Window>Preferences>My Eclipse and try to expand the Application Servers node I don’t see anything. I am unable to configure any application servers apart from an old one persisting from my old Eclipse/MyEclipse 3.1/4.whatever-it-was install.
I’m currently running Eclipse 3.2 and MyEclipse 5.0.1 on Ubuntu(Dapper) with java version “1.5.0_05-b05”.

My overall experience is that this version of MyEclipse is proving very flaky on this platform. I have a whole range of little niggles from regular VM crashes on JSP editing, the Ant Unsatisfied link issue, Incorrect error identification in JSPs and this. To be honest, I’m getting a little disillusioned.

If you aren’t seeing the app servers it is most likely an installation problem. To rule that out, try downloading this file. Then unzip it, and run Eclipse. Create a new workspace or choose your existing one, and see if you can see the app servers now. The link above is to a clean brand new Eclipse 3.2.0/MyEclipse 5.0.1 pre-bundle.

If I use a clean workspace the problem is resolved.

So, what is the best way for me to resolve my issue. Do I create a new workspace and migrate my projects in?

Yes. Fortunately it’s a quick process:

    1) Old Workspace: File > Export > Preferences
    2) New Workspace: File > Import > Preferences, File > Import > Existing Projects

    All done.
