I’m using Eclipse 3.2.2 running on Java 1.6 Update 2 on Windows XP SP2.

After installing MyEclipse 5.5.1 GA, Eclipse starts up and shows a message box that states:

“Incomplete MyEclipse Installation
The workbench must be restarted to fully complete the MyEclipse installation process. MyEclipse will restart now.”

On top of that dialog box a “MyEclipse Quick Install” dialog box appears with an unchecked Matisse4MyEclipse Swing UI Designer 5.5.0 option. This dialog box is completely unresponsive.

I can click OK on the Incomplete Install/Restart message box, but after that the app goes dead. It acts like the Quick Install dialog box is modal, yet unresponsive. The only thing I can do is kill the process and uninstall MyEclipse. If I uninstall it, Eclipse starts up just fine.

Can’t seem to figure out what to do next!

Can you make sure that the size of the MyEclipse installer matches the size mentioned on the download page? This could be the issue of a corrupt installer. Have you tried using the FullStack installer to setup MyEclipse ?

Is there a way to get my Eclipse conf back the way it was
(My backup is somewhat outdated)

You can install MyEclipse to a brand new location and open up the old workspace. You will get back your old configuration.

Downloading a fresh version fixed the problem. Must have been a corrupt download (or a quickly slipped in fix! wink wink!)
