I am moving to a new laptop and cannot get MyEclipse 4.1 to install.

I am running on Windows XP SP2 with 33GB of Disk and 512 MB Memory (2GB on the way). Eclipse 3.1 is installed.

When the install wizard pops up everything goes fine until it starts to actually install the MyEclipse plugin. I let it run all last night and nothing. When i cancel the install the logs always show that it never gets past the preinstall stages. i have downloaded the MyEclipse 4.1 installer 3 times and each time it fails.

i need help because I use MyEclipse every day and I need my new laptop.

I just did the manual install and it seems to be working.

    Ann,

Sorry it took a bit to get back to you, but you did what we would’ve suggested anyway. Glad to hear it’s up and running. One thing you might want to do is ensure that your startup arguments include the proper memory configuration such as:

    <path-to-eclipse-install>\eclipse.exe -product com.genuitec.myeclipse.product.ide -vmargs -Duser.language=en -Xms128M -Xmx512M -XX:PermSize=64M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -Dosgi.splashLocation="<path-to-myeclipse-install>\eclipse\MyEclipseSplash.bmp

Thank you for using the manual install, that is usually our suggestion whenever folks have trouble with the installer software. We upgraded the InstallAnywhere package for our upcoming 5.1 release to the most recent release and rebuilt all our installers, so we hope that resolves most issues for folks.
