Frantic211MemberHello,
I am using my eclipse to develop a web application and when I save any file and and eclipse tries to rebuild the project, it says it is waiting for the jsp validation, and then just hangs. When i close the window, eclipse become unresponsive and must be killed via the command line. This doesnt happen all the time, just most of the time. For now I have just disabled validation on html/jsp, but it is a very nice feature. What can i do to resolve this? Also, I cant get the design view of the jsps to show up. Is this a know issue with linux? I am on ubuntu 6.10 if it makes a difference.

Riyad KallaMemberAlso, I cant get the design view of the jsps to show up. Is this a know issue with linux? I am on ubuntu 6.10 if it makes a difference.
Yes, unfortunately this is a known issue on Linux at this time. We disable the design view because we have a few instabilities in the designer that can cause MyEclipse to crash that we need to fix.
Also I noticed you are running with JDK 1.6.0. Would you be able to download Sun’s latest 1.5.0 Linux JDK release and instead launch MyEclipse with that and see if the behavior improves?
Frantic211MemberSure, we just upgraded to 1.6 a few weeks ago… I will point eclipse at my old jdk. Will let you know the results…
Thanks,
Matt
Riyad KallaMemberMatt,
Make sure it’s one of the newer releases of JDK 1.5.0 (_10 or later). Some of the earlier releases of 1.5.0 were a bit flaky when running Eclipse/MyEclipse we noticed during testing.
Frantic211MemberWow, works great. Also, another “side effect” that i was running into has been resolved.
I posted the problem to the sticky thread for manual install. Every time I started eclipse/myeclipse it would open up 100% and then say: “In order to complete the installation you must restart eclipse.” When I clicked ok, it opens back up and runs fine. Now that I have switched to java 1.5 the problem is not happening anymore. Should I/you log this as a bug so it can be addressed?
Thanks,
Matt
Frantic211Memberit seems to work ok with 1.5.0_08 but I will upgrade to _10 if I experience anything out of the ordinary
Riyad KallaMemberOk glad to hear it’s working better, thanks for trying that.
Also thank you for the report on the endless restart loop. Testing Java 6 is on our TODO list with our MyEclipse 6.0 release.
Frantic211Memberwell, it wasnt an endless loop…. it only made me do it once on start-up and then it ran fine.
