ADP-1MemberWhen I do the full stack install of MyEclipse, I notice some new shortcuts, including the HTML Designer, DB Explorer etc. For the full install, it automatically puts Eclipse in a subdirectory under the MyEclipse folder. Can I configure that so it installs eclipse into c:\eclipse?
When I do the plugin install of MyEclipse, none of those shortcuts (or the directories) are installed. In addition, the MyEclipse splash screen doesn’t come up using the plugin install. Instead, I get the Eclipse 3.2 splash. Why is that?

No, this is the bundled Eclipse that we install specifically for MyEclipse to guarantee a clean setup. You can certainly treat it like a normal eclipse install if you like (installing plugin and such) though.

The additional apps you see are our SNAP applications, and that copy of Eclipse is customized to load the MyEclipse splash screen. When using the plugin installer, it simply “unzips” MyEclipse into the location you choose and “hooks” it into your existing Eclipse install as a product extension (via the /links dir).
I think it’s possible to have the SNAPs generated at the end of the install for the normal plugin installer, we just haven’t done it yet. And this has been the first mention of it… so I don’t know if we would add that or just direct folks to use the all in one? We tend to prefer to suggest folks use the all in one because it’s the most tested and established configuration of MyEclipse and easiest for folks to get clean/working installs with.
ADP-1MemberThanks, that’s very helpful. I was deciding which flavor to roll out to our developers here. Today, they run MyEclipse with a separate Eclipse install. I’ll probably push for the all-in-one.
