blaplanteMemberHi folks,
I searched for a while and did not see anyone with a simular problem. The problem occures after I have opened preferences and added a new file associasion to the General/Editor/File Associations menu and then right click on the new file. The “Open with” menu does not contain the editor type that I chose when I added the file type.

blaplanteMemberThanks for the quick reply.

I did that just now and it still does not show up on the “Open with” context menu when editing a file.
Scott AndersonParticipantCan you give some details on what you’re trying to add, exactly, and what editor you’re trying to associate it with? Some
editors simply won’t like some content types or extensions.
blaplanteMemberYes the file extension is *.kon as in widgets.yahoo.com and the editor is an xml editor. The .kon file is in fact a well formed xml file.
Scott AndersonParticipantI donwnloaded an example kon file that looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <widget debug="off" minimumVersion="3.1"> <window> ....elided.... </window> </widget>
I navigated to Window > Preferences > General > Content Types > Text > XML
and clicked ‘Add’. I added *.kon and hit OKIn the Package Explorer view, the .kon file’s icon became the XML file icon and right-clicking to select Open With… shows the XML Editor not
only listed, but the default for the file type. Note: I did *nothing* with File Assocations.Hope that helps.
