I’m trying to install JBoss Tools in order to support JBoss AS 7. I tried installing JBoss Tools v3.3 but I kept getting dependency errors. Selecting every JBoss Tools module simple landed me with an error message saying I needed to install a module I already had selected.

So now I want to install JBoss Tools v3.2 instead. But the MyEclipse Config Ctr offers no way to remove pending updates. I now can make no changes to my environment and MyEclipse is stuck in a loop demanding an update to GMF which I can’t provide even by going through the Eclipse Indigo site.

How does one remove pending new plug-in modules?

    gryffin13 ,

Sorry that you are running into this issue with MyEclipse.

MyEclipse supports JBoss tools internally, so if you try to add the tools externally it will throw dependency issues and the IDE may become unstable. Our latest release supports only JBoss 6 connector. We have a PR filed to include support for JBoss 7 connector. You might see it working in MyEclipse 10.

To remove pending updates, go to configuration center, Software tab > My Software list, right click on the tools module you want to remove and click on ‘Remove’. Attached is a screeshot for your reference.

Let me know how this works for you.

Thank you Swapna for your quick response and helpful insight into the JBoss 7 support plans.

However as to the Configuration Center itself I am still in a locked loop where I cannot apply any changes or back out any changes. I didn’t see an attachment to your post but I think I know to what you were referring.

The problem is that once you select an item to be added or removed, you cannot back out the change until it has been applied. If you look at the attached screen shot you will see that the Config Ctr wants to apply 11 changes, one addition and ten deletes. When I say ‘apply changes’ Pulse goes through analyzing the package and determines it can’t go through with the selected changes.

I have grown to 11 changes from a single careful addition as I’ve tried different things. The other thing I can do in this situation is add new modules or remove existing ones. The Configuration Center will not let me right click on an item in the ‘Software Updates Available’ box and remove a module that I may discover I cannot install.

THis is what I call ‘configuration hell’. THe pre-Pulse days were much better than this and I miss how I could go back to the old fashioned Eclipse update sub-system on older versions of Eclipse.

    gryffin,

    1) You can back out each of the changes – either Add or Remove.
Added software will appear in your Software tab, the My Software section – if you scroll down you should see all your additions there. Right click these additions and choose Remove – they will now disappear from the “Software Updates Available” section.

For software that you have removed, look at the “Browse Software” section (left of software tab) from where you originally added, and simply choose to add it again – “To remove” change will now disappear from the “Software Updates Available” section.

As far as updates are concerned, you should be able to individually select which of these can be applied (via checkbox shown next to update) every time you click the “Apply” button.

    2) I realize that we need to improve the ability to simply “reset” here, your situation has made that evident and I will take that up internally.

    3) If you want a quick resolution, I would recommend running the installer again (not sure how you installed MyEclipse?). All the bits are already on your machine, the Installer will detect this and ask if you would like to install a separate profile – do this and once installed, point it to your existing workspace – it will only lay down a separate configuration and you can ignore this existing configuration.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
