I just downloaded the 7.1 for Windows so I could take a look at the UML capability. I’m most interested in the reverse engineering of class diagrams. Unfortunately the first test I ran generated an error: Creation of element failed; parent has no name space.

I’ve tried adding -clean to the Eclipse start command btw and this made no difference.

Any recommendations? If this feature doesn’t work, unfortunately I won’t be able to purchase the licence…. shame because it looks good.

… if I reverse engineer each package individually, the error does not occur. Does this give a clue as to the root cause?

    Hi,
Are you using UML1 or UML2 — the UML2 tool is in a preview-release mode until 7.5 where we will have our final GA release of the tool with a ton of enhancements and improvements.

I just select the Reverse Engineer…. option from the UML menu. I downloaded the latest release of MyEclipse and I don’t think I’ve ever had to select between UML 1 or UML 2. How do I check which is being used?

    I just checked… I’m using UML 1. I started again:
    1. Created new UML model selecting UML 1. I don’t have the UML 2 option installed.
    2. Selected Reverse Engineer from Java and accepted the default selection of all my source code.
    3. Got the error.
