I have a developer on my team that is using the preview panel and the css editor. When his eclipse is maximized and he switches from css to jsp preview it closes eclipse.

He is using winXP, eclipse 3.0, and myEclipse 3.8b1, jdk_1_4_2.

Since I have just about the same setup with no problems, I’m not sure if it is a myEclipse problem or not?

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem.

Can you double check his log file (<workspace dir>\.metadata\.log) for any telling exceptions that might help us? And if you are not having any problems then this most likely is a setup issue on his machine. Does he have any funky IE plugins installed? Does IE crash on him alot? (the embedded preview on Windows uses IE, that’s why I ask).

Thanks for the quick response. He’s a new employee with a new machine. As far as I can tell he doesn’t have any plugins for IE. I forgot to mention that myEclipse is the only plugin he has installed for eclipse.

I agree that it is a setup problem. I also forgot to mention that he was using eclipse 2.11 with myEclipse 2.7b1 and had the same problems with modifying css files then view the jsp preview pane would crash eclipse.

I’ll take a look at his log file(s) in the morning and get back to you.

Hmm that does sounds strange, just to make sure, I just created a new web project, and added a HTML and CSS file, then kept switching between the CSS editor and the HTML preview and everything worked OK. So hopefully from the log file we can figure out what is going on with his setup.
