More of a FYI for people.I had created an EAR project with about 5 ejb projects and 2 web projects and 10 or so java lib projects.
I deployed to a <Custom Location> and then “C:\Program Files\XXXEAR” showed up.
I clickeded Browse and selected “C:\”. The XXXEAR was missing. I hit finish and the hard drive was cranking away for about 20 mins before I had to kill the process, which left my computer in a strange state.
I rebooted and foud that it had started to delete everyitng on my hard drive starting in alphabetical order… so by the time i had killed the process it had deleted everyting from A to D… so i lost my development folder Documents and settings…etc.

wayneModeratorAn issue has been identified with the MyEclipse 3.8.2 – 3.8.4 custom deployment mechanism that results in the target location being removed to clear the way for the new deployment’s content. Unfortunately this can result in unintended removal of important file system content if the root deployment folder is of critical importance. We wil be releasing a QF and updated installers shortly that provide warnings on deployment and ensure exploded deployment can only occur to new directories.
The short term workaround is to “always” specify a new folder as the target location for your custom deployment.

Thanks,
Jules
