/usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/javaThere were multiple incidents, when the tool did not respond. E.g. I wanted to setup my debug configuration and run the project. It did not run and said, the project has errors. Do I want to continue? I pressed yes, and then ecilpse simply did not start the program. I then wanted to stop the IDE debugger, but this did not work. I could not even close the dialogs anymore. The only thing left to do was kill the process. Since then, I get multiple errors throughout the project. All database connection configurations I setup in the database browser are gone. I was hoping, that I could somehow locate a configuration file of myEclipse and reimport them. I could not find such a file in the end, so I setup the DB again. As I am using Hibernate, I am very dependant on the DB connections, as my reverse engineering of DB to POJO/DAO and Hibernate mapping files depend on it.
The same thing happened to me three times now. Every time I killed myEclipse (e.g. closing the wrong terminal window from which it was running, killing myEclipse process for any reason..) it resulted in the same situation: the configured database connections weren gone.
Because of internal politics, I currently have problems sending you the .log file of the eclipse IDE. I would need to modify it in order for you to have it.
If you would desperately need it, I would have to change it and this would take up time. Please let me know.Thank you for any help on this.
support-joyMemberPhoenix_133,
Sorry to hear you are running into these issues. Please answer below queries to help me investigate further –
1. What are the type of projects you are working on?
2. You mention setting up debug configuration, could you attach a screenshot of your debug configuration to help me get a visual?
3. What is the database you are using?
4. What is the app server you are deploying to?
5. I am afraid .log file is an integral part to investigate the root cause. I would recommend you clear your .log file located at [your workspace dir]/.metadata/.log, replicate the issue and attach the file here. You can go ahead and mask sensitive data from your .log file.I have escalated your issue to dev team member. They would get back to you.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Brian FernandesModeratorPhoenix,
1) Obviously, MyEclipse should not be crashing at all and certainly not frequently. You may want to try and run it with some additional memory settings, see this post for details: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/troubleshooting-memory-amp-performance-issues/
2) From the File > Export > Database > JDBC Driver wizard, you can export all your database connections. If the situation occurs again, it will be easier for you to set up your connections again.
3) When you create your DB connections from scratch, have you exited the workspace at least once before the crash occurs? Or does it crash in the same session during which you created the connections – this might explain the fact that the connections keep disappearing.
Please keep us posted and let us know if you need additional assistance.
Phoenix_133MemberThanks for the quick reply.
I have adjusted my settings within myeclipse.ini to use more memory. I must have forgotten to setup this when I recently changed my OS and used the same workspace, but had to reinstall myEclipse. I also deactivated JavaScript assist, as I don’t need JavaScript.I will keep you informed if things work out. Thanks for the quick reply and helpful link.
Kind regards,
