When I create a new Dynamic Web Project in MyEclipse, there is a message that says that this type of project – WTP Java EE – is incompatible with MyEclipse. Why is that, and what are the consequences if I continue? I am trying to have MyEclipse deploy a project to an external copy of Tomcat on the same machine, but so far I haven’t succeeded, and this error message makes me wonder if the incompatibility is relevant to what I am doing.

You cannot use WTP with MyEclipse. Can you download the MyEclipse All in One installer and reinstall MyEclipse to a brand new location. You can then create a new web project by going to File > New > Other > MyEclipse > Java Enterprise Project > Web Project.

MyEclipse already has WTP integrated in it. So when you use MyEclipse with WTP, there is a confilct that causes this problem.
