sleyzerzonParticipantHi,
I just installed Eclipse 3.2RC2 and pointed it to ME 4.1.1GA – it doesn’t seem to recognize it as extension; though ME appears in the product configuration screen under the help menu, there are no features of MyEclipse available and no ME in preferences.
It seemed to work with Eclipse 3.2RC1a. Does anyone know what changed, happened?
Thanks,
Simeon
Scott AndersonParticipantSimeon,
MyEclipse 4.1.1GA will not run on an Eclipse 3.2 build because of changes in the Eclipse APIs. We’re currently preparing a MyEclipse 5.0 Milestone 1 build for Eclipse 3.2 RCx that should be available either late tonight or tomorrow.
Ed rossMemberyour post was on may 05, today is the 18th, still not 5.0 milestone release. Getting ready to switch to yoxos which seems to keep up with the eclipse releases better
osesmMemberIIRC, Eclipse 3.2 hasn’t been released. The Genuitec guys are doing us a favor by allowing us to work with unreleased software. And be patient, they are promsing us a release today! 🙂
Ed rossMemberthx looking forward to it. – well, need it really

Scott AndersonParticipantWe’re shipping 5.0M1 today (5/19/2006) and the download links are currently being updated.
Much of the delay in getting the release out were our dependencies on the Callisto train and getting synchronized versions of WTP 1.5 and an Eclipse RC candidate that had truly frozen APIs (post-M6) and that fixed breaks in debugging like this one that wasn’t fixed until 3.2RC3. This bug in particular prevented most debugging operations from working properly in Eclipse. The point being that if we’d shipped something any earlier it likely would not have been particularly useful and would have been broken by the next Eclipse M/RC release due to the build fluctuations we were seeing.
Even with our milestone builds we strive for the best quality we can deliver and the minimum of migration issues for our users. We took the extra time on 5.0M1 in an attempt to ensure that this remained the case. I think we succeeded, but time will tell. In any event, future milestones should be much more regular now that the platform issues have stabilized somewhat.
wdemossMemberSorry for the rude response up above. It was much more abbrasive then I had thought, until I just read it again.
Scott AndersonParticipantI know the feeling. It’s happened to me a time or two as well. I typically write the response I really want to, then mail it to myself and read it as if I’d just received it. It sure changes your perspective a bit. 🙂
In any case, I *think* you’re allowed to delete or edit your own posts if you want. If you’re uncomfortable with it now we can delete it as well if you want us to. No worries; we’ve read tougher posts about us from time to time. 😉
