Anyone know what the future is of OS/X and Eclipse? With Carbon going away, does Eclipse have a strategy?

Carbon going away? That is interesting, where did you hear that? If thats the case then I guess they might finally be fixing that OS X bug that keeps SWT/AWT from playing nice together. If you read that bug report it states a Cocoa port as a possible fix.

    Well here’s what I understand so far…

First.. Apple is freezing it’s Cocoa-Java support.

    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/LanguageIntegration/index.html

Features added to Cocoa in Mac OS X versions later than 10.4 will not be added to the Cocoa-Java programming interface. Therefore, you should develop Cocoa applications using Objective-C to take advantage of existing and upcoming Cocoa features.

Also as I understand it, when OSX goes Intel, Carbon support will go away – so Eclipse Mac won’t run on the MacTel release…

So I’m just trying to find out what the Eclipse group is going to do and if anyone has heard anything?
