    I am no longer able to create files in eclipse but I am able to open up any file I want.

    It is creating the file but it is not updating it in the package tree and not opening the file. It just locks up.

    I’d try closing everything down and restarting with -clean:
    eclipse.exe -clean

    Sometimes the Eclipse caches get out of whack and this usually clears up odd behaviors.
