Does MyEclipse have a list of plug-ins that can cause probelms? Or a list of plug-ins (and their versions) that MyEclipse depends upon? For example, WTP is one. I have installed and used some plug-ins (i.e. JBoss IDE) in the past with MyEclipse.

The bigges are WTP, EMF and GEF. You should be fine as long as you don’t go installing custom versions of those. We will be shipping upgraded versions of EMF and GEF with MyEclipse 4.0 so the VE folks don’t need to have separate installs anymore.

    Could you be more specific.

For example, WTP, EMF and GEF are the biggies. What does that mean, the biggies that cause problems? If so what versions with what versions of MyEclipse. You are shipping upgraded versions of EMF and GEF with MyEclipse 4.0. Therefore, does that mean that you need to stick with those specific versions until MyEclipse is ready to move to the next version of those plugins?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Jeff,
Essentially yes. I’m not sure on the specific version of WTP as our initial integration was based on the initial contribution, but since then we have ported and created 100s of bug fixes and integration changes to the code base, so I don’t have a specific answer for you.

For EMF and GEF, with 4.0 we will ship the most recent stable releases of both of those packages, which is also what VE currently relies on.
