Riyad KallaMember1) Eclipse 3.x requires JDK 1.4+ to run, so the error isn’t a surprise.
2) You can tell Eclipse where to look by using the -vm flag:
eclipse.exe -vm c:\jdk1.5.0\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs Xmx256m

BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86, WS=gtk, NL=en_USYour problem is different, here you are not specifying a JRE for Eclipse to run so it is finding and trying to use GCJ, which will definately not work.
siefkencpMemberSo I gather from my reading I need JDK 1.5 or so… not part of the standard RH distro. Im going to try to find it on Sun’s website.
Chris
Riyad KallaMemberYou need JDK 1.4+, and yes from Sun’s website and yes, not part of the standard RH distro (licensing issues).
siefkencpMemberJDK installed and I get the same exact error.
Riyad KallaMemberDid you read my 2nd post in this thread? That suggestion applies to you as well… you can clearly see from the “error” that GCJ is being used to run Eclipse, if you *are* getting the exact same error then I would suggest that Eclipse is still attempting to run itself with GCJ and you should take my suggestion in post #2 to heart.
siefkencpMemberThat worked. Thanks for the help.
Chris
Charlie LittleMemberI had a similar problem on Windows. The culprit turned out to be Oracle. After installing Oracle 9i, it placed its own JRE 1.3 and 1.1 in my system PATH variable.
Thanks for the tip which gave me the clue as to what to look for…
