The official Eclipse webtools has finally hatched something..
    http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-webtools/index.html
is the first draft of the proposal to maybe think about talking about deciding what kind of direction the webtools project might consider taking.
It’s been ages (1+ years ?) since the Webtools project was announced (ie: had high profile links on the eclipse main pages, usenet group, etc. ) and now they’ve finally got a proposal.

Of note is that they plan on two main projects – web tools (supporting w3c standards like html, css, xml, xhtml, etc..) and a j2ee tools (supporting official JCP standard tools.) This means things like xdoclet, hibernate, struts, spring, velocity, taperstry, et al. will be supported by third party providers (*cough* myeclipseide *cough*). I hope this model works for genuitec, but please don’t ease up too much on the core XML & JSP editor development until a viable tool is available.

Don’t worry about us, we’ll be fine. 🙂 For more information on our involvement and plans going forward you can read the thread here:
