editor can not recognize some tags

    creating a jsp , html, or plain file
    using the comment tag gets the editor to go NUTS! <!–the below blah blah … –>
    the editor Complains:
    1)-multiple annotations found at this line
    2)-unknown tag(!)
    3)-Invalid character used in String (<)
    4)-Start tag <!> not closed.
    NUTS!!!

    also using the tag <!DOCTYPE … drives the editor NUTS

    In the mean time I will use jCreator or wordpad

    how can the editor learn common tags???

    Please post all the information from MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details here for me.

    Also, please open your log file (<workspace dir>\.metadata\.log) and copy the last few exceptions from the bottom here for me. Also it would help to have an exact file example to work with along with the file name you named it AND the editor you were opening it with (Right-click on file, go to Open With, and check the editor name that has the dot next to it)

    Well that was 1 of the 4 things I asked for… so I think I’ll just point to you to use a brand new clean install of MyEclipse 5.5 GA using our all in one installer and making sure you install to a brand new directory then open your existring workspace and see if the designer is behaving better.

    <TH> tag has to be enclosed between <TR> tag. Thats the reason why you are getting the “Invalid location of tag Warning”.

    I replaced win xp multi-media with win xp professional
    myeclipse as well as other programs were acting strangely with
    xp multi-media , since I changed to xp pro , all the
    weird behavior dissappeared
