Error Installing StarTeam 2009 R2 Eclipse 3.6 client
I am trying to install the StarTeam 2009 Client in MyEclipse 9.1 using Pulse. I am receiving the following error.Software being installed: MyEclipse 9 (Profile) 2.0.0.0000000002 (com.poweredbypulse.profile-2001107-rmb-2408512 2.0.0.0000000002)
Missing requirement: MyEclipse 9 (Profile) 2.0.0.0000000002 (com.poweredbypulse.profile-2001107-rmb-2408512 2.0.0.0000000002) requires ‘com.borland.starteam_3.6.feature.group 0.0.0’ but it could not be foundI have tried this from within MyEclipse 9.1 and using the standalone Pulse client.
Attached is the screenshot of the error.
support-joyMemberMichael,
I am afraid I could not reproduce this issue. Could you clarify how did you try to install StartTeam 2009 R2 ?
I used the following site – http://altd.borland.com/update/eclipse3.6/site.xml
Please answer below queries to help me investigate further –
1. What is the update site you used to add the plugin?
2. Are you behind firewall / proxy? If yes, please set the same here – window > preferences > general > network connections and retryLet me know how this works for you.
mikeoopMemberI am getting the exact same error. I am using the update site http://altd.borland.com/update/eclipse3.6/site.xml. I have tried this on both 64-bit Cocoa and 32-bit Cocoa versions.
I have also tried this from within MyEclipse 9.1 and standalone Pulse.
I am not behind a proxy and was able to install StarTeam on MyEclipse 8.5.
I am effectively dead in the water till this is resolved.

support-joyMembermikeoop,
Are you on Mac? What is your OS and version? Could you check if you can add this to Eclipse 3.6.1? Reason being I have validated this works fine on ME 9.1 on Windows XP.
I have escalated this issue to dev team member.Sorry for the inconvenience.
support-tonyKeymasterMike,
I replicated the error on a Mac, with a cocoa install of MyEclipse. However, I didn’t have a problem installing on a carbon version of MyEclipse. I couldn’t find a definitive statement about what platforms are supported for the plug-in, though there isn’t a download for Mac. However, if you look at the update site xml document it shows that the windowing systems supported (the ws parameter of the feature tag) include carbon, but not cocoa.
I also tried to install the plug-in on a straight eclipse cocoa installation but it failed.
Is it possible for you to install a carbon version of MyEclipse and use that?
mikeoopMemberYes I am on a Mac. I tried it on Eclipse 3.6.1 and also got the error.
mikeoopMemberUnfortunately the Carbon version doesn’t run on OS X Lion.
support-tonyKeymasterSorry, Mike, but I’m not sure if there is anything else we can do. You should approach the StarTeam developers to support Cocoa.
One thing you might want to try is to run another system in a virtual machine, perhaps Leopard or a Linux variant. You could then install MyEclipse and StarTeam in the virtual machine. I use virtual machines a lot here, myself, on Linux with VirtualBox. That could be an option for you.
trantParticipantAny solutions to this problem in the last ~3 years ??
I am on MyEclipse 2014 (Build id: 12.0.0-20131202) Windows 7 64-bit
I tried installing this StarTeam plugin and got the same error as the OP.
Any way to get this working now?
Edit: If there is no way to get it to work what version of MyEclipse would I have to revert to in order to get this to work? I’d much rather downgrade MyEclipse than to bother with some Virtual Machine hassle
support-tonyKeymastertrant,
We don’t support 3rd party plugins, unless the problem is with MyEclipse. In this case, the plugin is also not installable in a standard eclipse setup, so the problem is really with the developers of the plugin. As indicated in a previous reply, your best support route for the Star Team eclipse plugin is Borland/MicroFocus support.
Also, as previously mentioned, the plugin can be installed in a Carbon version of eclipse/MyEclipse. The last release of MyEclipse that supported Carbon was 10.x (releases of eclipse/MyEclipse following that do not have a Carbon variant). Note, however, that there will be no further bug fixes in the 10.x stream.
If you decide to go back to release 10.x (last release: 10.7.1) and don’t have an installer, you will need to email sales@genuitec.com and they provide you with a download link to your chosen release. Be sure to include your name, subscription id, subscription code, MyEclipse version desired, and operating system so they can provide the correct download link without delay.
I hope this helps.
support-tonyKeymasterAn additional note about this.
trant raised the issue on stackoverflow and has posted a response from Borland.
