Glenn PuckettParticipantAttempting to upgrade to v10 today. The installer is in the process of downloading the software. My machine has ground to a virtual standstill. I brought up the task manager and find that pulse-one-32.exe is taking 50-90% of the cpu just during the download. I know this is a one time deal, but a single module should not consume this much CPU doing what this is doing.
MyEclipse tools should play nicely with other software. It shows a great deal of arrogance on your part to have tools that virtually take over a client’s machine or assumes to decide for the client what needs to be done.
Obviously this will eventually be over. In the meantime I have to sit and watch because I can’t do anything else on my machine. NOT GOOD!!!
support-tonyKeymasterWGPuckett,
I’m sorry you’re seeing this behavior of the installer.
I haven’t seen this myself, on Windows XP. Typically, the CPU usage is under 10% (often 0-2%), with occasional brief spikes but my machine didn’t become unresponsive. In the Task Manger, the base priority was “Normal”, so it wasn’t trying to hog the machine.
Did MyEclipse complete installation OK? I’m wondering if you have a corrupted on-line installer, though if the software installs OK, this is unlikely.
Just to confirm, which operating system are you installing under, are you installing the 64 bit or 32 bit version and what is the name of the installer executable? Could you also just check the MD5 for the download (the MD5 number is mentioned on the download page)?
Glenn PuckettParticipantI was installing on a Win7 32-bit machine. It finally crapped out with several errors. No, I didn’t record what those errors were. I ended up downloading the offline version. It installed successfully.
The file name is myeclipse-10.0-online-installer-windows.exe
The MD5 as calculated by WinMD5Free is 3bb971980f078f7e8c251a0a97b68ec2. Looks like it matches the MD5 provided on the download page.
support-tonyKeymasterWGPuckett,
Thanks for posting. I’m sorry you experienced the problem, which doesn’t look like a corrupted installer; I can only assume it was related to your system setup, in some way, though these things are always hard to track down.
I’m glad that you’ve managed to get the new release installed successfully.
Glenn PuckettParticipantYup. I got it installed. Every problem I’ve EVER encountered with commercial software has ALWAYS been caused by something on MY machine!! 😛 Or at least that’s what the vendor always tells me. LOL
support-tonyKeymasterHah! But in this case it must be true. 🙂
Thanks again for reporting this and letting us know the resolution (this time). I’ll close off this topic now. If you have any other issues, don’t hesitate to post a new topic.
