I know that this is an unsupported configuration. I’m posting here only for your info.

Eclipse 3.1M4 is not compatible with MyEclipse 3.8.3. From a UI perspective, the problem is that the deployment menu option is totally absent. There’s no deployment widget on the tool bar, and I could not find a “deploy” option anyplace on any of the context menus.

Looking further, I discovered the error log file in {workspace}/.metadata/.log. This file’s got a bunch of stack traces in it. I would be happy to forward the file to you or to attach it here, if it would be of any help.

Eclipse 3.1M4 appears to work OK with MyEclipse 3.8.2 — at least, the deployment stuff exists on the tool bar. I did not test 3.1M3 with 3.8.3, so I don’t know if that combination is broken as well. I’ve used 3.1M3 with 3.8.2 for awhile with no substantive problems.

Yes, it’s unsupported because we know for a fact it won’t work. 🙂

Actually, it’s just broken in different ways as the Eclipse team pushes code around. That’s why we’re waiting for it to stabilize a bit before supporting Eclipse 3.1.

Thanks for the offer but there’s no need. The problems will change with every build of 3.1 until the Eclipse team stabilizes it. That’s why we simply can’t afford to port to and support it at this time. We’ll begin supporting it at or close to the first RC build timeframe.
