rod.lopezMemberHi there,
I updated a nexus7 to Lollipop 5.1 yesterday, after the update I stopped getting the screencasting button in Gapdebug. I updated Gapdebug to 1.1 and Cordova /Node to no avail.
I guess Gapdebug decides that the casting is not possible and that’s why the button goes away, but why?
I also tried with a 5.0 Nexus9 and I get the icon but… when the debugger connects to the running app the running app crashes on the device.Any help would be really appreciated!
support-michaelKeymasterHi Rod,
1) GapDebug android screencast support we have an update planned that addresses that missing feature. Only we are only able to test it up to android 5.0.2 on our test devices. Would you be willing to help us test an early version of the update on your android 5.1 device and give us feedback?
2) Can you share more details about the Nexus 9 app crashing scenario? For example:
a) what version of Chrome is installed?
b) does the Chrome remote debugger cause the app to crash? We want to determine if the issue is with GapDebug or a more general issue.
– with your device connected by usb cable from chrome open the url chrome://inspect, make sure the app is started, start debugging it. Does the app crash?
c) if app does not crash in #b can you share the apk with us? You can send it confidentially to
support at genuitec dot com
with title: “GapDebug – crashing attached apk” and include include a url to this thread
rod.lopezMemberYeah, you are right in that it is a 5.1 issue. I reverted the android installation to 5.0.2 and everything was back to normal. If you have a version that would work on 5.1 I can test that, no problem 🙂
I’ll need to reinstall the N9 to give you the rest of the answers, Chrome doesn’t even start anymore 🙁
support-michaelKeymasterHere are win and mac downloads for the next GapDebug release. I tested them to confirm the android screencast capability is working on android 4.4 (nexus 7) and 5.0 (genymotion emulator). Please give it a go and share your results on android 5.1.

You will want to uninstall it when the GapDebug 2015 update 1.2 release is ready (coming soon).

We you able to test drive the dev version of GapDebug I shared above?
I don’t have an android 5.1 device to test on yet. -
