Guys ….
I can view the MyEclipseWEB/Online help here and it displays fine so its not java related, etc ….

The suggestion was as Eclipse uses ports to view the Local help that maybe something was blocking it …
I can’t find anything and wondered if theres anyway i can check/test if the ports are open or not.

as far as i can see
1) The Microsoft XP firewall is turned off
2) Internet Explorer security settings are set to default ….
3) The antivirus software we use is Sophos and it (allegedly) doesn’t block any ports ….
Cheers …
😳 😥

One thing you might try is restarting your environment with -clean (eclipse.exe -clean). It seems to repair all manner of Eclipse weird-isms. If that doesn’t do it, can you please post all the information we request in the Posting Guidelines thread at the top of this forum? That will give us some context and that might allow us to figure it out.

What operating system and version are you running?
XP Pro with Service pack 2

What Eclipse version and build id are you using? (Help > About Eclipse Platform)
Version: 3.0.2
Build id: 200503110845

– Was Eclipse freshly installed for MyEclipse?
All Fresh …. Eclipse itself works fine its just the Local online help that won’t display …

– Are any other external plugins installed?
Not sure only from Eclipse website …

– How many plugins in the <eclipse>/plugins directory are like org.eclipse.pde.*
What MyEclipse version are you using? (Help > About Eclipse Platform > Features)

What JDK version are you using to run Eclipse? (java -version)
Java 1.4.2.8

What steps did you take that resulted in the issue?
Installed the software ?

Are there any exceptions in the Eclipse log file? (<workspace>/.metadata/.log)
Yes …Files really long can I email it ?

AIDEYUK, close MyEclipse, erase your log file, restart MyEclipse and try and load help, now check the log file, any exceptions? Post them here please.

Also this question can likely be answered faster by the Eclipse folks in the eclipse newsgroups, but we are happy to give suggestions if you prefer us 😉
