what is the necessity of ehcache.jar file in hibernate ehcache application.
mY Hibernate ehcache application is working even without ehcache.jar

Kiranmayi,
Have you enabled second level caching in your application? Hibernate is configured to use the EHCache class for the second-level cache by default, but unless you configure your hibernate configuration file to use second level caching, it is not used in the project.
