I am using MyEclipse 5.5.1 with Eclipse 3.3 and JDK 1.5.0_11 and Tomcat 5.5.23. When I change code after deployment, I get the following dialog:

hot code replace failed VM may be inconsistent

I have already checked, and the JRE for my project and my Tomcat server is both the same — JDK 1.5.0_11. Also I am not changing any method signatures or inner classes. I am simply changing a string that the logger writes to the console.

And I should also add: the JVM for eclipse and Tomcat is the same — jdk1.5.0_11

MyEclipse 5.5.1 is not compatible with Eclipse 3.3. You need to upgrade MyEclipse to 6.0 or use Eclipse 3.2.2 with MyEclipse 5.5.1. Can you setup MyEclipse with a compatible version of eclipse and try the hot code replace.

    I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have typed 3.3. I am using Eclipse 3.2.2

When you installed Tomcat you didn’t install it as a system service by chance did you? Also when you said you have already checked the matching JREs, can you explain how you checked?
