Our developers typically create different environments on different logical drives. For example, one developer might work on drive C:, another might setup things on their drive D:.
Linked source or other folders don’t seem to work well in this respect. When I create a linked folder, I browse to the folder and then once selected, edit the drive letter out of it, perhaps turning D:\apps\SpatialAge\src into just \apps\SpatialAge\src. But still, when this workspace is moved to another developers workstation on a different logical drive, Eclipse can’t find the files in the linked folder because it has apparently saved away a drive letter reference in spite of my edit.
I’ve run into a couple of other problems too that seem drive-letter related. Is there a general way to avoid drive letter references? I’d prefer to install all components on one logical drive, and then be able to run the application on that drive without any reference to the drive letter, enabling me to easily move it to another logical drive.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
