trushar100MemberHi,
I can test on my ipod, but I want my colleague to also test the app on his iphone.
Is there a guide on how to do this after I have obtained a testing profile for myself?
I am unsure whether I need further development certificates.
For info, In the Apple Developer website under Devices, my collegue’s device udid is displayed, but with ‘0’ under profiles.
Thanks.
support-michaelKeymasterFor the type of distribution you are seeking you must build the iOS app using an “ad hoc” provision profile that specifies every target device that you wish to install the app on.
Apple makes it a pain to share an app with an arbitrary group of users such as a test team. What you have to do is define every device up to 100 in the Apple Provision Portal. Then create an ad hoc provision profile that specifies the devices. Lastly use this provision profile to create a version of the app and distribute it.
See the following step #4 that outlines creation of a provision profile

paulDMemberI agree apple make the whole process an awful experience, conveluted and long winded.
Trushar can you not use the web app build for testing with your colleague, its much easier and quicker!
trushar100Member@Wayne, ok great – I have followed the steps. i think my partner has an Ad Hoc profile set up.
But how do I send the app to him? Is it just a matter of him syncing his iPhone with iTunes and then the app will appear on his phone? Or is there more to it?
@Paul, I have sent the build hyperlink to my partner, but we both want to see how the finished article will look after we submit it to iTunes. Just double checking, I guess..

There are a couple of options:
1) the simplest approach is when you build your app to include the email of any collaborators in the build wizard’s notification page. This will send a email to each collaborator containing a link to an installer for your mobione app
2) another approach is to send the executable file, e.g, .ipa to your collaborator. Instruct him to connect his device to itunes running on his desktop via usb cable. Then drag/drop the app file to the apps section of itunes. Run a sync and the app should be transferred to the device.
trushar100MemberRight, Wayne… I’ve tried both of these options and they do not work. I conclude that the provisioning I have set up in the developer site is not correctly set up.
So to help you help me work this out, I have put screen shots of the Provisioning Portal tabs below. I have only included the screenshots of tabs that have my personal info in them, and not generic info in them.
Can you see what it is that I have done incorrectly that seem to allow me to download an ad hoc app, but not for my partner (Steve Warner)?
support-michaelKeymasterIf you want this fixed quickly let me recommend that you consult with Kyle (mailto:kyleparrott@appstoreuploader.com) who will directly setup all your signing data for small fee.
