Bruce PetroMemberHow do I (or can I) do an auto-update of the MyEclipse software?
I see help, update software, but I suspect that only updates the Eclipse side of things not so much the MyEclipse specializations.
I see update Subscription, under MyEclipse, but that is sounding more like it has to do with the annual subscription stuff not actually software updates.
Please explain what updates what for a newbie!?
Thanks!
Scott AndersonParticipantYou can simply select Help > Software Updates > Find and Install… > Search for updates of the currently installed features
That will show a list of update sites, of which MyEclipe’s should be one of these listed. That will show up *after* you pick which Eclipse.org mirror site you want to use for the workbench itself.
Bruce PetroMemberSorry – I do NOT get a mirror listed for MyEclipseide.com. In the US, I get 2 titled “ibiblio”,
1 “Redwire…”, 2 “TDS…”, 1 “Univ/Buffalo” and that’s it.So, I just picked Eclipse.org and waited … I get a “Sorry there are no new updates” message but I KNOW you guys have 4.0.2 out there waiting for my 4.0.1 to update to. SO WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
Were you saying that an option to select an on-disk upgrade shows up after selecting the generic mirror option and letting it run? If so, evidently it doesn’t if it reports nothing to update at the mirror site.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Bruce PetroMemberThis is still an open question – at this moment, it appears that simple updates for MyEclipse are not working. There is no mirror listed for MyEclipse. There is no offer to select local hard drive directories – at least not if the update stops with a “There are no new updates” message after selecting the generic Eclipse.org mirror for the first step. If Eclipse.org sees no new updates to give you it immediately exits and offers no more dialogs.
So – how do I get 4.0.2GA updates?

Actually, I just updated a test 4.0.1 install to 4.0.2 without any issue. I selected the main Eclipse.org update site (you should too) for the Eclipse.org mirror, and waited for it to be checked. Since we do all the mirroring of the MyEclipse update sites through dns aliasing, there won’t be a prompt for a MyEclipse update site mirror. Once the Eclipse site was searched and no updates were found, the next dialog page shows the MyEclipse update site that when expanded showed release 4.0.2. I checked the box, hit finish, and restarted and the upgrade went fine.
Can you check Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration and expand the location of MyEclipse in the dialog. How is the product listed? Does it say MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 4.0.1? Do any other versions show they’re installed as well? If it shows 4.0.1, what happens when you select “Scan for Updates” in the pane to the right?
