I tried to utilize the spell checker for the Visual Web Designer. I enabled the option under the eclipse preferences, but then spelling was checked everywhere, but not where I wanted it 🙂

Is there a way to configure the spell checker for the Visual Web Designer _only_ … maybe even for a specific language? If not then please add this feature!

I have seen that you have even added an advertisment for the HTML Editor via google – well, then give it some final touches to support some handy shortkeys that are common for such editors like search and replace, etc. …

    All the best,

    Frank

    Frank,
Can you be more specific which setting you are referring to and where it is under the Preferences dialog?

I am working with ME 5 on OpenSUSE 10. When I enable the preferences for spell checking under General/Editors/TextEditors/spelling then all sorts of words are underlined in an XML file for example, but not in the designer view of the Visual Web Designer.

    1) Should the spell checker officially work for the Visual Web Designer under Windows and Linux?

    2) For me it looks like that the dictionary needs to be defined. The plattform dictionary in the preferences is not changable and for the user dictionary I am not clear what is required either …?

Please advise how to configure it – Thanks in advance!

    Frank,
The spell checking feature is part of the base Eclipse TextEditor platform component, I’m not sure if the Visual Designer extends this component so I cannot offer support for you here, but I will check with the dev team if it does and if unofficially it will work.
