ethutchMemberI am looking for a good thread dump analysis program. I am not sure if Lockness will meet my definition of good or not but some people recommend it so I wanted to try.
The install instructions are at:
http://lockness.plugin.free.fr/setup.php
But basically they say “copy it to your plugins directory and use it”. But when I copied it to Common\plugins it doesn’t work. That seems like the correct directory, perhaps it is not.Any help setting up lockness would be appreciated.
Alternately, never having seen lockness I have no actual commitment to it. If there’s a better dump analysis tool I’m quite willing to take advice. I’ve used TDA and it seems pretty good, but not really awesome so I’m still searching.

davemeurerMemberHello Terry,
To install plug-ins that don’t have an update site, you can try the dropins folder, which is located in the Profile folder of the specific installation. Here’s a blog that explains more: http://www.genuitec.com/blog/?p=1628
HTH,

ethutchMemberThanks very much!. That worked great.
Slightly surprisingly the jar file is still in the dropins dir. Less surprisingly it is also now in the configuration directory.
Are there any special considerations if I want to get rid of a plugin installed using this procedure?
Since it doesn’t show up in the Configuration Center, my assumption is to delete it from both places but it is mentioned in the profileRegistry dir too. I wouldn’t want to cause MyEclipse to fail because it couldn’t find a plugin I was trying to delete.
davemeurerMemberGlad it worked.
I’m not 100% sure if there are any special considerations. I believe it’s fine to remove it, but let me move this thread into the Installation forum to see if anyone there knows of any special considerations.
