we9603MemberHi,
I am trying to install a plugin called MGD Integration into MyEclipse 7.5 workbench. The plugin is on an .exe format. I ran the exe and pointed the installation into the dropins folder under C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins
When I go to Help – About MyEclipse I do not see the plugin. So I am wondering if this plugin works for MyEclipse and if it does how to install it?
Here is a link to the website where you can take a look at it and download the plugin to try it: http://www.sparxsystems.com/products/mdg/int/eclipse/index.html
Looking forward to your findings….
support-joyMemberwe9603,
Let me clarify that MyEclipse doesn’t provide any integrated support for MGD Integration. Please refer MyEclipse features list here – http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-1.html.
Having said that there are users who have integrated 3rd party plugins. I researched using the above weblink on MGD Integration Plugin. Have you created plugins folder underC:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins
If not, please create the same and move the jars created by the plugin to C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins\plugins
Next restart the MyEclipse IDE. At this instant you will be prompted on what plugins are added and if there are any dependency conflicts. I do see dependency conflicts being reported. To verify that the plugins are added click on Help > About MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench > Plugin Details and look for the plugin.Attachments:

we9603MemberJoy, I followed the intructions above w/out sucess. I did not have the plugins folder under C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins so I created one.
1- I put the jar files in there, lauched MyEclipse and no prompts. I then when under Help > About MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench > Plugin Details and did not see the plugins there (as you show on the screenshot above).
2- I also tried puting the jar files at the root of the dropins folder w/ the same results. Is there anything else that you did to have them display? Also, is there a preference somewhere inside MyEclipse that tells the system where to grab the plugins from? In additon, this link does not work: http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-1.html.
Thanks.
we9603MemberFYI – The link had a “.” at the end. That is why it was not working. Looking forward to you comments on my responses above.
support-joyMemberwe9603,
Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details. Also how did you install ME? Meaning using – all-in-one installer / pulse / archived update site on top of eclipse classic? To upload screenshot use the [post reply]/[Preview] button instead of the Quick Reply section. Also you can send a [PM] to me. If you fail to do the above, you can send a mail to support@genuitec.com, please add ATTN:Joy in the subject and include reference of this weblink, which will help in quick tracing.

Can you verify if you have copied the plugins to C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins\plugins ? If yes, please open C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\myeclipse.exe
Is there anything else that you did to have them display? Also, is there a preference somewhere inside MyEclipse that tells the system where to grab the plugins from?
No I haven’t done anything else to have the plugin to display. MyEclipse picks up the plugins from [MyEclipse installation dir]/dropins. Also if you have an update site, you can use the Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove software > Add > Add Site.
In additon, this link does not work: http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-1.html.

I used the all-in-one-installer.
Where did I put the plugins:
I put the JAR files under C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins\plugins.
Also put them under C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins
In addition I put them under C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins\sparxDont know where else to put them?? They are not being picked up by the IDE no matter where I put them??
There is not update site capability from what I can tell by looking at the vendors website.
PS- Not sure how to upload a screenshot however I dont think that is necessary at this point. The JAR files are where I said I put them.
support-joyMemberwe9603,
Thank you for the installation details. Please remove the jar files from all the other locations other than C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\dropins\plugins and restart your IDE.
To upload a screenshot, please use either the [Preview]/[post reply] option. You can also send screenshot by clicking on [pm]. Else you can send an email to support@genuitec.com add ATTN:Joy in the subject and also include a reference to this weblink, which will help in quick tracing.Thank you.
we9603MemberJoy,
The reason why the are in other locations is because they were never picked up when I put them in the dropins/plugin folder. I have restarted the IDE after every attempt. I am not sure how you got the IDE to pick them up ?? There has to be something different that you are doing, or you IDE is configured different than mine. Not sure.
support-joyMemberwe9603,,
I assure you that I haven’t done anything other than the steps I have mentioned above. I have installed ME 7.5 using the all-in-one installer. And the OS is Win XP, 32 bit.
Please see the attached screenshot.Attachments:

we9603MemberJoy, I believe the plugins installed for you (I have seen the screenshots) The problem is that they are not being picked up on my end. That is what I am trying to figure out. Once you put the jar files in the dropins/plugin folder and restart the IDE, how is the IDE detecting them? Do you have the “Show MyEclipse Dashboard on startup box checked under MyEclipse preferences? Or are you checking for updates some other way? Let me know if there are any particular screenshots you would like to see on my end.
we9603MemberJoy, I had a co-worker try it and his IDE picks them up (exactly the same way as you described). Obviously there is something wrong w/ MyEclipse. I will try reinstalling and try it again.
Thanks for your assistance.
support-joyMemberwe9603,
You can re-install ME and give it a shot. Let me know how this works for you.
Best.
