PipelineParticipantMyEclipse Build: 200408061200-3.8
Eclipse Build: 200406251208We are currently using the 3.8 GA release of MyEclipse and we want to upgrade to the 3.8.1 release.
I have upgraded one environment using the instructions found in the “Update Site for MyEclipse 3.8.1” thread. I noticed that Eclipse has a feature to use an “archived site” rather than having to use a “remote site” as described in the instructions.
My question is how can I use the “archived site” feature so that we don’t have to download everything for every workstation that is upgraded?
I tried pointing to the myeclipse_030801.zip file (3.8.1 GA Manual Install file), but that did not work. It complained with the following error message: “Selected archive does not contain an update site. Please select another archive.”
Your help is appreciated.
Thank you,

Riyad KallaMemberCor let me check with someone on this.
In the mean time I might suggest you wait to upgrade until next week as we are hoping to roll out 3.8.2 which is going to contain a whole slew of bug fixes and optimizations (including the 3 quick fixes done for 3.8.1 obviously).
Scott AndersonParticipantCor,

Good question. Right now we don’t normally provide an archived version of the update site because we’ve had to issue special restart instructions, etc, to work around an Eclipse bug or two. However, for enterprises I can certainly see how this might be advantageous. We’re currently in the QA cycle for release 3.8.2 so that release should be out in about a week. If having an archived update site would be of great benefit, the best way to make it a reality is probably to drop an email to subscriptions@genuitec.com and lay out the use case of how much easier it would make your life. 🙂
