Would it be possible to get a list of which of the IBM WTP components were integrated into myeclipse? A number of plugins IBM contributed are very independent of the rest of the package and it seems possible to pull them out individually and use them, if desired. Also, how do you intend to track those plugins as they evolve in the WTP.

    rocks,

You can get a list by looking at the MyEclipse installation location. We never change the names of any open source plugins we use or enhance.

Very carefully. 😉 Seriously, we’re members of the Web Tools project and will simply have to continuously monitor changes as they are made and determine what impacts they will have. At the present time, the WTP is in such early stages that it isn’t clear how much of the IBM contribution will even be accepted and used, but we’ll obviously have to stay on top of it.

Additional question. Are you going to contribute any of your improvements to the IBM plugins back to the WTP?

Most of our changes have to do with reintegrating the editors on top of our project structures and servers, rather than on IBM’s. However, we will be making all the modified code available so that the WTP team can determine if they’d like to accept any changes. But since that code is still “in motion” internally, I don’t have a time frame for that. However, recontribution is our intent.
