Have been using 8.5 up until today for developing seam apps. After upgrading to 8.6 today through pulse some (but not all) of my xhtml files have errors. When opening a file that is in error all the text has red underlining not just part of the file. In the problems tab the description is “illegal character” location = line 0, type = javascript problem.

Steps I have tried to fix the issue:
    – I have deleted the project and re downloaded from svn
    – Deleted and reinstalled myeclipse from within pulse
    – Deleted workspace
    – Opened the files in error in another editor with “show invisible chars” turned on to check if there are genuinely extra characters
    – Deleted parts of the file to try and isolate the issue to a particular part of the xhtml

    None of the above helped.

There is a possibility that there is something wrong with my files I guess but its odd that it now complains after the update.

Just reinstalled 8.5 and no errors so looks like it is an issue with 8.6

    treka,
Can you give us some more information?
    1. What is the encoding(Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > XML) that you are using for your xml files?
    2. What is the doctype used for your XHTML files showing errors?
    3. Can you send us a sample file for us to test at our end? You can send a mail to support@genuitec.com with the file attached. Please add ATTN:Shalini in the subject and refer to this post.

    Craig,
Thank you for the files. We could replicate this at our end and I have raised a PR for the dev team.
They are currently looking into it.

    Craig,

We have released an update to 8.6.0 to fix this issue. If you go to Help > MyEclipse Configuration Center and the Dashboard tab, it should show you an update to 8.6, select and apply this update to get the fix.

Thanks for reporting this issue, we appreciate your support.
