Gary FoxMemberWhen I install My eclipse after installing the JBOSS-IDE plugins, I get problems with the JBOSS server configurations. Immediately upon starting Eclipse after installation, I get this error message:
‘org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException Launch mode run not supported for configuration type org.jboss.ide.eclipse.launcher.configuration.jboss.JBoss32xLaunchConfiguration’.
and my server configurations are no longer visible in the ‘Server Navigator’ view.
If I remove myEclipse the error goes away.
Is there any easy fix I can make to allow myEclipse & JBOSS IDE extensions to co-exist happily?
Scott AndersonParticipantGary,
Does the error repeat on subsequent restarts of Eclipse, or is it just the first one?
I do have a bit of good news if you’re trying to make the two work together so you can get the XDoclet support. The GA release tomorrow will have full XDoclet support. We spoke to Hans Dockter recently and he encouraged us to use his implementation from JBoss IDE. So, we migrated it over, enhanced it mildly and will have it ready to go, complete with integrated help and the XDoclet reference manual.

MyEclipse Support
Gary FoxMemberScott,
The problems seem to occur whenever a Server profile exists, and the ‘Server Navigator’ window is opened – either at startup, or subsequently.
The error is always displayed when the window is opened. It goes away if I deinstall myEclipse.
If I only use eclipse + myEclipse I think I lose the ability to start/stop/debug JBOSS apps.
I’ll certainly install the GA release and see if the problem reoccurs; it would be a pity if they can’t play nice together; eclipse + JBOSS-IDE + myEclipse looks like it would be a killer JBOSS-J2EE environment.

We have full support for JBoss 2, 3, and 4 with full debugging support. You really don’t need JBoss IDE at all.

Remove JBoss-IDE and it still is. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, JBoss IDE is great for as much as is there. Hans Dockter did a great job, especially considering he was the only one working on it, and in his spare time too. However, MyEclipse has all that was there and so much more. Please try the GA release (on a clean Eclipse installation) and I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised.
