raydawg2000ParticipantMy issue is that when i startup up MyEclipse its takes a long time, a couple minutes just to startup. The main issue i see a “initialize spring tooling” in the status bar that takes most of the time in which myeclipse is unusable until that finishes. I don’t use that but I can’t seem to find a way to get rid of it either?
the next issue is that once I finally am able to use MyEclipse everything I use for the first time hangs the program for about 15-20 seconds. First time i open a jsp file, first xml file, first java file, etc.. once I have a java file open the first time I try a code completion (the feature where you do myvar.<list of methods appear>). It hangs trying to load the list of methods the first time. Heck even if i cut/copy/paste some code the app hangs. Like i said this mostly happens just the first time I try and do anything, its usually pretty smooth after that. but as you can imagine my frustration level builds pretty high when i first start working since i spend the first 10 minutes or so waiting for the app to resopnde from a hanging session.

support-swapnaModeratorraydawg2000,
Sorry that you are seeing this issue.
1. If you are not working with Spring, you can uninstall the Spring support from MyEclipse. Go to MyEclipse Configuration Center > Dashboard > uncheck Spring Support for MyEclipse from the MyEclipse Features list. Apply the changes and follow the wizard. Restart the IDE when it prompts to. This should resolve the issue with “spring tooling” delay.
2. To fix the general delay issues, I recommend you increase the heap size to preferable settings. The myeclipse.ini file can be found in the same folder as your MyEclipse executable. Open it in any text editor and change the values to :
-vmargs
-Xmx768m
-XX:MaxPermSize=384mLet us know how it works for you.
raydawg2000ParticipantThanks, after the settings the response time did seem to improve a bit. Though oddly enough spring support is not installed from the config center (I had removed it previously to try and fix the issue). So I am not sure why its still trying to load it. Ideally i would like to get rid of it all together, but the delay for spring loading is not as long since the memory tweaks.
support-swapnaModeratorraydawg2000,
I could not see the issue at my end after removing the ‘Spring Support for MyEclipse’ from the Dashboard of MyEclipse Configuration Center.
1. Can you please switch to a new workspace and check if you still see the ‘initialize spring tooling’ message when starting up ?
2. Go to Window > Preferences and type Spring in the search box. Do you see any entries for Spring apart from the SpringSource under Servers ?
