John HebleyMemberTried to do an install of myeclipse-8.0M1-win32 that I have just downloaded to XP SP3. First time I got an error message from pulse-explorer and the second time the install froze about half way through. I have copies of the error logs if you let me know where to send them. Cannot recall the exact error message – that’s why I was trying the install again.
Thanks
John
support-joyMemberJohn,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Can you try a clean install ? Please follow the below steps –
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
4. Next install ME 8.0 M1 from the download site/using installer(if already downloaded). I would recommend you to verify the file size and md5sum of the installer file.If the above doesn’t work, can you please send screenshots and error log files to support@genuitec.com, please add ATTN:Joy and refer to this link, this will help in quick tracking of issue.
Sorry for the inconvinience.
John HebleyMemberSorry for the delay. I wanted to try the install on a clean machine but needed more memory that was only installed this weekend. The clean install, ie with no prior versions, ran perfectly. I then ran the install on another machine that still has the 7.5 install as well as various plugins. It also ran perfectly and even opened the 7.5 workspace OK.
So Joy, my prior post was either some unexplained glitch or a random event. I can still email the logs if you need them.
Now to off play with 8.0!!
John
support-joyMemberJohn,
Good to hear you are all set. The log files wont be necessary. I think the reason you got the above error was either an incomplete or corrupted installer.
If you plan to upgrade to 8.0, I would recommend you to go for a fresh clean install. Don’t upgrade directly from ME 7.5 as the base eclipse has changed from 7.5 to 8.0. -
