    Hi,

Have just registered for a trial and thought I’d offer immediate feedback.

I could not get the InstallAnywhere exe to run – it just kept immediately shutting down. Checked out the forums and found out about the manual install. This proved to be trivial (I am using Eclipse 3.0).

As most of your subscribers will be (at least) as technical as myself but maybe not patient enough to check out the forums perhaps you should make the manual installation option more obvious, perhaps the preferred option.

Indeed, for Eclipse 3+ installtions, my use InstallAnywhere at all?

    Regards,

    Mike E.

    Mike,

The platform-specific InstallAnywhere installers are still preferred about 100 to 1 over the manual install option. Naturally, given that they’re downloaded tens of thousands of times on three supported platforms with every release of MyEclipse, there will be a few problems even if the process is 99.9% perfect. It’s really to be expected given that developers tend to have a ton of JDK’s installed in a myriad of wacky configurations. For the few times like yours that it doesn’t work properly, or when the user prefers it, the manual install is certainly available. Thanks for the feedback on its ease of use.
