MDProcureOffMemberThis message has not been recovered.
davemeurerMemberHello,
Would it be possible to post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Are you seeing these errors in the MyEclipse Software and Configuration Center, or using a classic eclipse update?
Thanks for the additional information,
Dave
MDProcureOffMemberI cannot post a screen shot, sorry.
1. I open myeclipseforspring, and the Software and Configuration Center is displayed, indicating 17 updates “ready to be installed”. 16 of these are my addition of the SVN repository components, and 1 is WebSphere component which has the blie/green icon, and which I don’t know where it came from.
2. I click the big green update arrow, and it displays a Pulse Explorer screen that says:
Update MyEclipse for Spring 8.6
Pulse is ready to update the selected software.

An unexepcted error occurred preparing to install and/or launch the selected profile.

(in a white-background window is the following)
(right double arrow icon) An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

phase=com.genuitec.pulse2.client.common.download.PulseCollect,operand=,………more stuff
(triangle) Could not find repositories containing the following artifacts:[org.eclipse.update.feature,org.eclipse.mylyn.bugzilla_feature,3.4.2.v20100916-0100-e3x-7D773BgJ9DH9fC…. more stuffLet me know what other information I need. I think if I could just do the updates installation, the SVN would pop in and I could use it. How can I edit what is in the updates list? I want to get rid of the WebSphere and have just the svn stuff there, but I can’t see how to get rid of the WebSphere update which I think might be going to the internet, which I don’t have. I want a stand-alone version that will hook into local repositories and not attempt to go to the internet.
Thanks for any help
MDProcureOffMembericon is “blue/green” for WebSPhere in the above post, sorry for the typo
davemeurerMemberThanks for the added details.
In the Software tab of the MyEclipse Configuration Center, (right side), you can un-check any updates that are in the Software Updates Available list. You can also right-click > remove any Personal Software items in the “My Software” list.
I don’t believe there is a switch to make it all go offline, so hopefully disabling the updates will help. Let me know if this gets you some of the way there.
Kind regards,
Dave
MDProcureOffMemberTo wind this up, I did a total reinstall of the software, and did not attempt to install anything. I delved directly into using and learning this IDE and will tackle the SVN issue at a future time.
MDProcureOffMemberFurther development: I am becomming very discouraged with trying to have a stand-alone version of myeclipseforspring. I recently added a new “site” that includes javaee-api jar, because it wasn’t finding it when I followed your GWT tutorial for Customers and Payment app, and when I clicked Restart, it gives the old “No application id has been found”. Links to “install new software” that I am used to in eclipse do not exist. The right-hand side of the dashboard menagerie continues to try to get News, and Tips online, filling up the logs with “com.skyway.myeclipseforspring.product could not be found” and others that Pulse tries to get. There are no clear ways to fix any of these problems when I CANNOT GO ONLINE. Every time I try to install SVN from local repositories I have added as a new “site”, I end up having to totally remove myeclipseforspring 8.6 and reinstall it all over again, including setting the “new sites”, etc. I have completely reinstalled this product four times so far. This is costing me much time and thus money.
Can you PLEASE have a tutorial on setting up myeclipseforspring WITHOUT Internet access, starting with which version we should have downloaded? This should include how to configure the dashboard and software tabs, what to check and uncheck for making it stop internet attempts, pointing to local repositories for all needed GWT (not relying on the GOOGLE plugin that is ON THE INTERNET, as well as complete instructions on setting up SVN from local repositories where I have set it up multiple times with regular eclipse. Include how to recover from “no application id has been found” as we add plugins that it deems incomplete. Otherwise, this product should be pitched as working ONLY when the internet is available on a continuing basis.
I also don’t like the idea of this product reaching out to the internet without my express permission, because for all I know it is sending out stats, library names, and any other information about my system that it wants to send to wherever it wants to send it. This has so much potential with the built-in RESTful support that it is a crying shame this has so many problems.
MDProcureOffMemberStatus: after much experimenting with configuring MyEclipseForSpring with local repositories since I don’t have internet access, I conclude it cannot be done without allowing Pulse access to the internet. It is likely that Genuitec alters the jar files for this application, so local repositories’ jar files do not work. I finally had to configure it at home using Pulse and the internet with as many “goodies” as I thought I’d need (Google Plugin, SVN, Groovy, etc), burn it to disk, and bring it into work. It is so far doing ok, but the jury is still out on building the GWT application from their tutorial. More later as I progress.
support-joyMemberMDProcureOff,
If you need to add any third party plugins via pulse/myeclipse configuration center, you need internet access. Good to hear you are all set.
MDProcureOffMemberHi Joy,
The point I tried to make is that although I had a local copy of the google plugin, MyEclipseForSpring woulld not properly accept it, and only by using Pulse with internet access at home could I get MEFS to install it. I believe pulse must do something to google’s plugin to make it work with myeclipseforspring. I can’t think of any other reason as to why a local copy of their plugin wouldn’t work.
support-joyMemberHi MDProcureOff,
I cannot comment more on what is the exact cause, as I don’t have a visual of your system. I am guessing that you could be missing out dependencies which were provided by the pulse install. Alternatively, you can try adding the google plugin to [your myeclipse for spring installation dir]/dropins/plugins folder and restart the IDE; this does not require any internet access.
