I’d like to create some snippets based on some of the other snippets, is there a way to copy them? Or do I have to export, change the appropriate values and re-import?

In the Snippets View you can right click on a snippet and select Copy and then Paste from the context menu. Or, you can do the copy and paste from the views toolbar dropdown menu (looks like a black inverted V). Once you’ve duplicated the snippet you want, you can right-click on it and select customize.
