Thank you for sending in this report – we were able to replicate the problem.

This issue occurs only when external files (i.e. files that are not in a project in your workspace) are opened in your IDE, before any in-workspace file is opened. The workaround is to simply open an in-workspace file before opening external files, you could do this even after running into the problem.

I realize this is a frustrating issue, but hopefully the workaround above will keep you moving. We’re looking at whether we can deliver a hotfix for the issue, we’ll keep this thread updated. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Hello, I believe I still have this problem after the update. The work around doesn’t seem to work for me. If I open any external files of most types: *.xml, *.groovy, *.js, *.properties, *.wsdl, *.yml and onwards, I get Failed to create the part’s controls with the stack trace below. Opening a file of the same type within my workspace works, but has no effect on the problem with opening external files. Should I make a new post for this or is replying ok?

Sorry you’re continuing to see the problem. From the trace, it looks like your external files are in an SVN repository, perhaps being opened from the SVN Repository view. In this situation, we’ve been able to replicate the problem and I’ve raised the issue with development who will be giving this a high priority to fix, so, hopefully, we’ll have good news for you soon.
