This is the first request we’ve gotten for JIRA support, I have filed it as something for us to look into but we may wait for more folks to ask for it.

For the fastest response to this, I’d imagine the place to request JIRA support would really be directly from Atlassian. Since they’re a commercial company, they should be able to understand the business motivation to support a rich client for JIRA through an Eclipse plugin.
