Does MyEclipse have support for JSTL?

What I would really like to see in a JSP editor is the ability to create form fields from a form pallet (GUI), then create the appropriate JSTl by selecting a backing bean or some other object from an object pallet.

You can use the JSTL now and get taglib completion for it, but if you are asking about the Expression Language, then it only supports not marking it as an error, but does not support autocomplete or anything like that.

One of our biggest features that we are working now is our GUI builder. In beta1 we showed that we have it working for HTML, and we are hoping for Beta2 to have some JSP editing. I think we should have what you are asking for soon enough.

And I agree, your request is a very good idea, especially with the ease of having an object pallet.

Thanks for your quick reply. This is very good news.

I think you guys are up in Dallas. Would you like to come down to Austin for a JUG meeting? I think many users like myself would like to see a presentation of your beta.

If you are going to create a GUI designer that supports JSTL and an object palllet you will need to do things like displaying pseudo values in the designer display page. For example if you wanted to display a list of users in a table and the list is a collection of user objects (firstName, lastName, etc.), for idsplay purposes you would need to have an option that says show 5 pseudo values: firstName1…, firstName2…, etc., or you could display pseudo Latin text. It wouldn’t be perfect, but it would enable developers to create a solid look and feel.
