    Hi All,

I am trying to install JTest 8.3 plugin for my MyEclipse 7.1.1 IDE but when JTest asks me to point to eclipse.exe file, I am pointing it to myeclipse.exe and it’s not taking it. What should I do now?

    Thanks.

    ArjunReddy,
Can you send me a link to the site from where you downloaded the plugin so that we can test this at our end. This plugin is not officially supported to work with MyEclipse.

Did you try setting up the plugin using the /dropins folder?

    Hi Nipun,

I got that software from our company’s repository and not online. Sorry I am unable to provide any link for it. Also, I tried the MyEclipse dropins folder from the link you gave me. Jtest is an .exe file and it’s asking for eclipse.exe location. I tried giving the dropins folder as the destination but it did not take it. It also did not take the myeclipse.exe. In general can Jtest, any version be used with MyEclipse? Because it keeps asking for eclipse.exe

    Thanks.

    Arjun,

As Nipun mentioned above, MyEclipse doesn’t provide an integrated support for JTest. You can try to download either the plugin and add it by copy pasting the same to MyEclipse/dropins folder or if you can find the update site, you can use Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software to add 3rd party plugins.
If the above 2 doesn’t work. You can download Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic version, add your JTest plugin and add MyEclipse plugin. Let me know if this works for you.

    Hi Joy,

I downloaded Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic version and Used MyEclipse update site and installed the MyEclipse workbench on it and then installed JTest. It worked this way but I have few questions.

1). I tried to do what I did above for Eclipse 3.4.1 EE Version and it gives me the following message at the TOP of the IDE “WTP Java EE (MyEclipse Incompatible)“. Could you please tell me why I am seeing the message and why this message is not displayed when I do the same thing for Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic version?

2).Right now I have Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic version and MyEclipse 7.x version installed on it. Since I used Eclipse 3.4 Classic version and not the EE…. Will I still be able to use all the Java EE features available? I know I have installed MyEclipse 7.x version on it but I just wanted to know.

    Thanks.

    Arjun,

MyEclipse includes almost all of WTP but we hide (by default) perspectives which expose tools and views we do not support; in most cases these tools still work.

Did you see the “WTP Java EE” perspective without the “MyEclipse Incompatible” suffix? Or did you not see this perspective at all? As mentioned above it is hidden by default.

You don’t really need the WTP Java EE perspective or any of it’s tools for MyEclipse’s Java EE features. Most of our EE views are exposed in the MyEclipse Java Enterprise perspective and they will work in any perspective. However, you can still use the WTP perspective if you wish.

    Hope this helps.
