Is there a way to keep the screen from going dim/blank on idle?

If I take your question literally then you are asking how to keep a device from going to sleep. Is this correct?
If yes, MobiOne does not provide such an api. If no, please restate your question with more details or an example of exactly what you want to accomplish.

No app should bypass the user’s settings. You should consider notifying the user on startup to make such adjustments.

Okay, I will consider alerting them to make that change in their settings.

On a side note, I have noticed that several high quality apps (eReader Apps) keep the screen from going to sleep which keeps the reader from having to wake it up every 10 seconds or so.
