Is there a way to launch the Test Center directly from icon without having to launch the Visual Designer? I noticed that the Visual Designer can be closed after I have used it to open the Test Center, so they appear to be somewhat independent.

MobiOne is still under development and does not yet provide the ability to launch tools independently. I suspect for similar reasons as your’s we have already implemented this capability in our lab and plan to make it available when milestone-8 rolls out in a couple of weeks.
