ifmEssenParticipantHello,
we are a current subscriber, using the 3.8.4 release up to now. Today I installed release 4.0 and entered our subscription key (group license). I read somewhere that existing subscribers at first will receive the “Pro” license. Is this true? I am asking because after entering our license key we now have the “Standard” license.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
Thorsten Klusemann
Marcus BeyerMemberHmm, also no “Pro” entry in the FAQ:
http://www.myeclipseide.com/FAQ+index-myfaq-yes-id_cat-23.html
Scott AndersonParticipantWe’ve got much more information on the subscription differences here: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/pro-standard-subscription-information-closed/
Also, the topic was covered again in the newsletter that is still going out. You can get a copy of it online under Member Services > Account Management > Newsletter Subscription > Issue 14 Preview.
Riyad KallaMemberClarification: Your Standard key will be treated as a Pro key, so you guys have full access to all the features now (we didn’t want to reissue keys for all our registered users).
fkalichMemberI downloaded and installed the GA. I can see on “About MyEclipse” that version GA is installed. I see no XML menu item (as shown on the tutorial). I see no evidence that I have the Pro version running, I don’t think it is.
My subscription info reads
Product ID: E@MY (MyEclipse Standard Subscription).
I am left perplexed, as you see is very common from other posts to this forum.
1) Are there two different Binaries, one for Pro and one for Standard. As I see no evidence of the former, I expect not.
2) Does my existing key automatically turn on the Pro features? As you can see, it evidently did not, at least I have no evidence that it did, nor do I know how to verify that it did.
3) I am happy to renew the subscription eary if that is what is required. Please just explain the above, I think many people feel the same way, we can’t all be wrong.
Thanks!
Riyad KallaMemberPlease just explain the above, I think many people feel the same way, we can’t all be wrong.
Absolutely not, we didn’t do a great job of explaining how it is all going to work.
The UML and Oracle features are currently the features in the Pro version, so let’s try to create a UML diagram and see if that works:
1) File > New > Other > MyEclipse > UML > UML Model Repository, put it in the root of your project and give it a name and hit Finish.
2) Open the UML file, did it load up? Are you able to edit it?If you did then you are all set, if not, then there is something goofy going on. I’d like to add that I am using a “Standard Key” as well that I got a year and a half ago with my 4.0 GA install that I use for support issues and while I see all the things you see (Standard) I am able to use all the pro features, so I think it’s just a issue of us not explinaing what is going on well.
Scott AndersonParticipant1) Are there two different Binaries, one for Pro and one for Standard. As I see no evidence of the former, I expect not.
There is only one binary.
2) Does my existing key automatically turn on the Pro features?
Yes, it does. Please see Riyad’s instructions on getting started with UML. By the way, we’re working on a quickstart document for UML right now. We know lack of information is a definate issue here. 🙂
3) I am happy to renew the subscription eary if that is what is required.
It’s not. All existing keys will be treated as Pro keys until their expiration. More information on an upcoming upgrade program is in the MyEclipse Newsletter which you can access here on the portal at: Member Services > Account Management > Newsletter Subscription > Issue 14 Preview.
fkalichMemberThat worked fine!
Don’t get me wrong, I consider MyEclipse as being one of the three overwhelmingly fantastic bargains on planet earth.
Thanks for your prompt reply (you answered within 5 minutes).

Now there’s one for our marketing guys. 😉
Thanks for your prompt reply (you answered within 5 minutes).
No problem. Every now and then even I get lucky. 🙂
So, does that get us your vote in the JDJ awards?
fkalichMember“So, does that get us your vote in the JDJ awards?”
absolutely! The other two are not your competitors (learningspanishlikecrazy and portaboat).
