William DentonMemberI have somewhere between 30 and 40 workspaces on my machine and createa and destroy them on a fairly regular basis. I sure wish there was some way I could have entered my subscription upgrade information ONE TIME and have that apply to all workspaces on my machine (both existing and any new ones I create in the future).
Riyad KallaMemberwdenton,
We will certainly consider alternative locations for the subscription information if more people want it or find it annoying as well; right now it is entered as/ and treated as all other preferences in Eclipse… you can import/export them using the Import/Export buttons in the preference dialog. So however you are transfering your settings across multiple workspaces, you can do the same for your subscription information.
support-michaelKeymasterWe are working on a new featuer called global user preferences that when configured will allow users to save the preferences of a workspace as his global preferences. Then when a new workspace is created ME will auto-populate that workspace’s preferences with the global prefs. Hopefully we can get that into ME 3.8.3 (but no promises).
William DentonMemberI finally figured out how to solve my problem… I copied the pref_store.ini from .metedata/.plugins/the com.genuitec.eclipse.core directory to /MyEclipse/eclipse/plugins/com.genuitec.eclipse.core_3.8.1/preferences.ini… Now the subscription is registered in all my new workspaces and also is getting propigated to workspaces where I have not yet entered the serial number info.
It does not appear to break anything & might be a useful tip for others.
Scott AndersonParticipantActually, the easiest way to do this is to use Window > Preferences > Export… to export your complete preference set and then use the Import… function in your new workspace to update them all. This will get all your preferences, not just your subscription information.
